The REPACKAGING OF HALFPRICE CONTINUES

The cold lashing the peni(s)nsula  of Cape Town (and the ongoing monotony of monogamy), was enough of a reason for HalfPrice to get the fcuck. out of dodge and onto the flat, high land of Gauteng. In honour of the cold we decided to cozy up to some of the bands that we HalfPrice have spooned with in the past to keep our asses from freezing! So join the frost bitten HALFPRICE, the doubly insulated SHEEPDOWN, the hot water bottled JAPAN AND I and gas heated ALICE BAND for the

And now……….

Zangtar Jihad laments on the cold…..

Ooo…baby baby, its been cold down here on foreskin of Africa! I was woken by a strange burning sensation in me seminefrious tubules. Fearing the worst or at least an STD I pranced with the grace of an American Tourist into my commode to investigated my groin by bathroom light. To my delight I noticed a mild case of frost on my scrotum. I had luckily caught that bastard mother nature in time! The frost was slowly working its way across my chommie and seemed keenly intent on assaulting my anus with a dose  of Winter Snap, prison style! Showering my balls under the warm tap I became keenly aware of a need to get some warmth onto my body. You’ll be surprised what a few stalactites hanging off of your pubes can make you think about! Had my inaction become so diseased that now my body had forgotten the warm feeling of woman? Was I unable to produce enough heat to keep me warm during these cold days in this foul year of our lord, two thousand and eight? I returned to my bed to find that the other side of my bed was in fact caked over in ice and arctic debris had built up. Metaphorically speaking, this was a sign….

MISLED back together!

EXPLOITED live in SA!

Punk Rock legends THE EXPLOITED playing two shows in South Africa!

“Riot starting, bouncer bashing, cop baiting, hotel trashing, foul talking, noise making, chaos causing, venue wrecking, government hating, rulebreaking, unrelenting, punk rocking. Clearly we’re not talking about Pepsi adverts, or indeed the many so-called punk bands that would gleefully sell themselves to such corporate giants for a palm full of silver. Whoo-hoo! The taste of a generation! F#%k off! Let’s get one thing straight: The Exploited are not ‘punkers’ or any of the other cutesy, watered down, MTV friendly names you might want to call them.”

Formed in Edinburgh in 1980 by ex-soldier Wattie Buchan, The Exploited were at the helm of the harder, second wave of Punk Rock along with bands like Discharge and GBH. Their debut release was as much a rallying battle cry as a record and ‘Punk’s Not Dead’ went on to become the number one independent album of 1981 reaching number 20 in the UK mainstream charts Which kind of proved the point, If punk was indeed dead, no one had told the bands rapidly growing ‘Barmy Army’.

With a string of high charting independent releases and over 20 years of vigorous touring The Exploited have reached iconic punk status worldwide and have been covered and cited as major influences by many acts including Slayer, Queens Of The Stoneage (whom Wattie presented with a ‘Best International Newcomers’ award at the Kerrang Awards in 2000), Atari Teenage Riot, Nirvana (Ex-Exploited guitarist Big John even played for them briefly) and Massive Attack.

“F#%k The System’ their eighth studio album sees the band on more explosive form than ever, riotous, unrepentant and wholly uncompromising. Tracks like ‘Never Sell Out’ and ‘Chaos Is My Life’ (both self-explanatory) are as brutally heavy as anything bands half their age have to offer and prove beyond doubt that, not only is there life in the old dog yet, but this band’s got rabies! ‘F#%k The System’ isn’t just an album title; it’s a statement of intent. But then again, it is a punk rock album, and make no mistake…

The Exploited are punk rock!
